Orchid Inspired – Celebrating Pantone’s Color of the Year
2014 is all about orchid. From weddings to interiors, style to stationery, Radiant Orchid (Pantone’s “Color of the Year”) has been popping up everywhere. We’ve selected a few of our favorite orchid inspired items here at RPS below.
1.) Time to make that BFF status official! I LOVE this friendship tear away card from Farewell Paperie – it reminds me of the good ‘ol Best Friend half heart necklaces I rocked in my younger years (babies of the late 80’s and 90’s – you know what I’m talking about). Letterpress printed in a bright purple ink with a matching envelope – one for you and one for your bestie.
2.) I have two words for you: Smock. Notebooks. A RPS favorite, Smock Paper Hearts is not your average notebook, this release features bright purple hearts, letterpress printed on the cover for a beautiful, textured feel.
3.) Keep it classy with a stainless steel flask from Give Studio. The 4 oz. flask has a handlettered design and comes packaged in a gray drawstring bag and matching button pin. PLUS it’s Michigan made!
4.) Folded card and envelope set from Waste Not Paper features a vibrant peacock printed on a bright aquamarine background. Comes with a coordinating lively purple envelope.
5.) We love Library of Flowers! One of our (and Oprah’s!) favorite things, each scent collection smells amazing, and is packaged with beautiful floral designs and patterns. Following the Orchid trend, we’re obviously into Linden, a dreamy scent with purple, blue and magenta flowers decorations. Take O’s advice and check out the Parfuma Crema (it’s pretty divine), but to be honest, I’m coveting the whole collection – in particular the bath oil and perfume.
6.) Get your orchid fix on the go with Jonathan Adler’s super convenient portable phone charger, in the designer’s “Positano Hexagon” pattern. As a reformed perpetual phone under charger, I can tell you – this is way better than toting around an actual wall charger and trying to find an outlet at bar or restaurant (guilty as charged).
7.) Notecard and envelope stationery set from Waste Not Paper features an ikat print of purple, metallic gold and tan. Set has 8 notes + envelopes.
8.) Very official! This travel mug (perfect for coffee or tea to keep you warm during Michigan's unpredictable spring temperatures) is straight from Pantone itself! Modeled after the company's color guides, the travel mug is available in a variety of colors.
9.) Speaking of beverages, this ceramic eco mug from designer Jonathan Adler (with a coordinating silicone sleeve and lid) can withstand temperatures up to 440 degrees F.
10.) Our most popular pen! Available in a variety of colors, the Le Pen (pictured above in Amethyst) has a smooth-writing micro-fine plastic point with acid-free, non-toxic ink. These lil' guys are perfect for writing notes and addressing envelopes with ease.
