  • Here Comes Halloween: Dia de Los Muertos Sugar Skull Inspired Items

Somehow this month has flown by, and it's already mid-October! The store is already in full Halloween mode, with adorable invitations, decorating ideas, and party gear galore. One trend we've been into this year are the beautifully intricate skull designs, inspired by the sugar skulls associated with Day of the Dead celebrations. Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos,  is a holiday observed October 31 - November 2 throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The traditional sugar skulls date back to 18th century Mexico, and have more recently made an appearance in popular design, popping up everywhere from notebooks to glassware and everywhere in between. Below are a few of our favorite Dia de los Muertos inspired items currently available at Rock Paper Scissors: Day of the Dead Masks Sugar Skulls The Day of the Dead Mask Kit includes all sorts of fun decorating options and makes up to 6 masks! Kit includes pre-cut shapes, pre-printed mouths, assorted papers (including glitter paper!), adhesive gems, wooden sticks, and templates. If you're feeling particularly crafty, add some twine and tissue paper to make a festive garland, like that shown below. We LOVE how everything turned out, and have been absolutely swooning over the photos of the event from Chelsea Brown Photography currently featured on Style Me Pretty! We've included some shots of our favorite custom RPS collaboration items below - but make sure you check out the full feature to sneak a peek inside the gorgeous fête, held earlier this spring at Zingerman's Cornman Farms. Laura and Will's Rustic Michigan Farm Wedding Custom Day of Wedding Extras 1. Laura and William's wedding program. 2. The couple's initials and wedding date were designed, then made into adorable vinyl signage. 3. A cute table tent note encouraged guests to "Leave Laura and William a Note!" 4.
