Our Favorite Things: Shinola Detroit
We’ve been a fan of Shinola for quite some time. The Detroit-based company has an aesthetic that is beautiful, clean, and decidedly hip. Pair that with a commitment to quality goods, crafted in the good ‘ol USA, and you've got something special. Perhaps best known for their watches and bikes, Shinola also manufactures leather goods such as bags, wallets and phone cases, as well as paper and linen journals.
According to the brand's website:
"We’re starting with the reinvigoration of a storied American brand, and a storied American city. Because we believe in the beauty of industry. The glory of manufacturing. We know there’s not just history in Detroit, there is a future."
Now that's something we can definitely get behind. The company has a factory and a flagship store in Detroit, a location in Tribeca, and now, their notebook and journal line is headed to Rock Paper Scissors Ann Arbor! It’s clear that Shinola loves Detroit – and so does RPS. We love any chance we get to explore the city just a short car ride away, and the sense of community and welcome we felt during the Rock Paper Scissors Detroit holiday pop-up was just incredible. We can't wait to check out Shinola's Detroit digs, and in the meantime, are thrilled to welcome their line to the RPS fam! Shinola’s line of journals are made right here in Washtenaw County. With a classic design, high quality craftsmanship, and a gorgeous array of colors, Shinola journals are perfect for work, school, or to carry in your purse or car for jotting down notes on the go.Journals in various hues and sizes are available at Rock Paper Scissors Ann Arbor, in hard linen, soft linen, and paper cover varieties. Look for them displayed in the awesome engraved wooden boxes shown below.
