One of our favorite things about the Ann Arbor Art Fair is that there's something for everyone. The art fair is huge and there are artists who work in every media imaginable. Choosing art work is so personal, but as we've been walking around this weekend a couple of artists stood out to us.
Jim Tucker is in Ann Arbor for the first time. He lives and creates his acrylic paintings in Kansas City. We absolutely love the texture he achieves with the acrylic and how vibrant the colors are in his paintings. Jim does take commissions and he is currently working on a commissioned piece of the Detroit skyline. That's something we would love to see! If you want to see Jim's amazing work, his tent is on Liberty near the corner of 5th.
Larry Smith's medium is oil painting and he has been coming to the Ann Arbor Art Fair for many years. He said his lilly pad pieces are some of his best sellers, and they are beautiful, but we also really enjoyed his art work depicting the marshes in his home state of Georgia. Larry's tent is on Maynard right outside of Knight's Steakhouse. We recommend checking out the art and then enjoying a famously strong cocktail at Knight's and doing some people watching.
