The summer nuptials of Molly and Patrick were truly something special. Their celebration, held at Zingerman's Cornman Farms and planned by VLD Events, was absolutely beautiful, with sweet details that made the event all the more heartwarming. The team at Rock Paper Scissors created the pair's custom invitations and some extra fun day-of details, including a guest book, signage, menus, and incredible hand-lettered escort cards made from ears of corn! A big (albeit belated) congratulations to Molly and Patrick! Thanks for having RPS be part of your special day! Below are some of our favorite photos from the event, shot by David Matthew Fiser. We LOVE the way Molly and Patrick were surrounded by friends and loved ones as they said their vows. After the ceremony, guests were directed to the table of corn, where they used their eyes to find the ears lettered with their name and table number. Molly and Patrick's invitation was simple yet sweet, with a color scheme and details that carried over into the dinner menus and signage throughout the event. Seriously, how cute are they!? Molly and Patrick said "I do" against the backdrop of the farmhouse at Cornman Farms, with musicians on the porch and their guests surrounding them. Their gorgeous guest book / keepsake marriage certificate had hundreds of spaces for witnesses, so that all the guests could sign! (We also love the look of the gray wood frame against the green color choices.) Nothing says Midwest farm wedding like an ear of corn! The setting had plenty of corn to use as a gorgeous photo backdrop, which tied in perfectly to the ears of corn that served as escort cards for the dinner and reception. Each ear was hand lettered with love by RPS' in-house graphic designer and letterer extraordinaire, Kristen Drozdowski. Can't get enough of this wedding design and adorable couple? It's the most wonderful time of the year! We at Rock Paper Scissors are recovering from Small Business Saturday (thanks SO much to everyone who came by!) and have been gearing up for tons of holiday fun. One of our favorite projects each year is creating custom holiday greetings - from letterpress to foil, illustrations to photo holders, the possibilities for holiday cards and letters are pretty much endless. Last year, RPS owner Lisa created "The Adventures of the Roberts" - a holiday letter that detailed month by month highlights of a year in the life of her family. The card featured detailed lettering, shiny gold foil, and adorable holly & berry illustrations. The intro message read: "We may not have 'passed through the seven levels of the candy cane forest, through the sea of swirly, twirly gumdrops' but we've had one hell of an adventure this year!" The one-sided card features lettered months printed in gold foil, with matching icons for each. Highlights of the year included birthdays, airplane (mis)adventures, playdates, and new business ventures, to name a few! Each card was mailed in a red envelope with a holly berry liner, complete with white calligraphy! Interested in creating a custom greeting for your holiday salutations this year? Meghan and David were an absolutely blast to work with. They opted for shades of matte gold and blush pink in the invitation suite for their gorgeous wedding, held at Zingerman's Cornman Farms in August. We jumped at the opportunity to create custom designs, featuring sweet dots, letterpress printing, and hand lettered details from Kristen Drozdowski. The wedding suite was, in our humble opinion, absolutely swoon-worthy. It was a joy working with the couple to create a truly unique look - from the "night before" and "brunch" information cards, to the extra special piece with their two first names in extra large lettering. The suite's theme was carried through in various day-of details, including the reception menu and welcome packets for guests traveling to Michigan for the weekend! Custom koozies for guests added something extra special, with sweet swiss dots and the event's signature hand-lettered styling. We loved seeing the project go from concept to completion - the two snapshots above, from the Instgram account of our in-house designer and letterer @KristenDroz, made it easy and fun to follow along with the lettering process! We couldn’t resist sharing a few shots from the actual event, taken by Abby Rose Photo. We love how she captured the signage at the dreamy venue, and this photo of Meghan and David is one of the sweetest things we’ve seen all wedding season. You can see more photos of this seriously gorgeous Michigan farm wedding on Abby Rose Photo’s blog. Congratulations to the happy couple! Thanks so much for inviting us to be a part of your celebration! From the moment we saw this couple’s Pinterest board, we were so excited to help create the invitations & day of stationery for this Lovett Hall wedding. Their impeccable taste in colors (gold, champagne, & blush– be still our hearts), their love of the gold scalloped paper (a handmade paper from India), and their wish to incorporate hand lettering into their invitations and event sent us over the moon.
We first met Becky and Ben through Alison, event planner extraordinaire at Viva La Diva who brought the couple to RPS in search of the perfect invitation. We partnered with Alison and one of our RPS designers, Laura Joseph (head over to Paper & Honey and check out her amazing work) to create Becky & Ben’s perfectly lettered invitation.
The invitation was flat printed on a 2 ply Savoy stock, and the envelope was lined in the handmade Indian scalloped paper, with guest addresses done in lovely calligraphy by Laura. At the wedding itself, the escort cards, bar menus, dinner menus, favor tags and event signage all carried through Laura’s unique hand lettering and beautiful touches of gold, champagne, and blush. Check out some of our favorite shots of the invitations and day of stationery thanks to photography by the fabulous Jess + Nate Studios.
We’re so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful event (as all Viva La Diva events are) and wish Becky and Ben all of the happiness in the world!Becky & Ben!
