RPS Designer Profile: Anne Pageau of Give Studio

Are you looking for the perfect stocking stuffer this holiday? A great office gift? Something for your cocktail loving friend or significant other? Anne Pageau of Give Studios has you covered. Although we first met Anne through her awesome flasks, it’s her design & photography partnership Proper, as well as her unique graphic design style, that made us fall in love! Not to mention, she’s a super cool person and a Michigander to boot. Her AMAZING flasks can be found at retailers throughout the country (including ours, here), but you can find her on the other side of our cozy Mitten State working, living,  and sharing her crazy talents in the greater Holland area. Take a minute and get to know the very talented Anne Pageau (of Give Studio) below! give_studio_layout 1.       How’d you name your brand/company?  I named Give Studio out of a desire to suggest something approachable, warm, and generous. I'm more concerned with how work gets done than winning at the end... and I'm truly grateful to partner and work with others who share this philosophy. 2.       What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on?   The favorite project questions is incredibly difficult to answer - I've had the pleasure of working with some crazy amazing people. Proper is a relatively new partnership with Michelle Tippmann (a design and photography partnership). This has been such a gift - to work with someone who challenges me to be better. Ruminate Magazine  is a long-time project that has incredible heart and soul behind it. Frances Jaye is a Proper project and allows us to work with a super inspiring team. Community Action House and Camp Geneva are local non-profits doing some of the best work in the area. And then the flasks are a blast, because it allows me to get to know (through trade shows, etc.) other young & talented designers doing similar work. Like I said - an impossible question! I could go on forever! 3.       If you had to tattoo one word on your body, what word would you choose? I have a few phrases I'm dying to make permanent, but am too nervous... hopefully the stars will align and I'll do it someday:  1) Limits create freedom 2) The true protest is beauty 3) Comparison is the thief of joy. 4.       What’s your signature cocktail?   Whiskey. Pretty simple. 5.       Stripes or polka dots?  Solid. 6.       What song is on repeat on your iTunes right now?   Oh boy... I love music and am completely uneducated. I'm a shameless top-40 listener and LOVE LOVE LOVE dancing. On the flip side, am totally drawn to the raw lyrics of Over the Rhine. I think they're the soundtrack to my life. 7.       If you had to describe your work/style in three words, what would those words be?  Give a shit. 8.       If you could have a weird Freaky Friday experience for a day, which designer would you want to switch bodies with and why?    This would be amazing and I wish it could happen every single Friday. There are way too many possibilities: Jessica Walsh or Stephen Sagmeister, or Pum from Design Army immediately come to mind. Design amazes me in the way it can completely take your breath away when you encounter something so well-done, and so much better than your own work.  9.       What advice would you give to 20 year old you?  Oh my... my poor 20-year-old self. I think I'd just say "buckle up."  10.   If we challenged you to a game of rock, paper, scissors, which would you choose? Why?  Depends on my mood that day, I suppose. Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Anne! We love having your flasks a part of RPS!
