Workshop FAQs

WHERE DO YOUR WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE?
All our in-person workshops and classes take place at one of our three RPS locations, as indicated in the event listing.

Ann Arbor
216 S. Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Saline
104 W. Michigan Avenue, Saline, Michigan

Junior
106 W. Michigan Avenue, Saline, Michigan

WHERE CAN I PARK?
At any of our locations, we encourage you to arrive a few minutes before the workshop start time to park and get settled. Plus you can always shop around the stores!

Ann Arbor
In Ann Arbor we validate one hour of parking in the Washington or William St. garages

Saline + Junior
In Saline there is free parking in the Key Bank parking lot next to the stores

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED?
All of our workshops are open level classes that are perfect for beginners as well as for someone more experienced in the class content. We will ALWAYS indicate if a workshop requires previous experience.

WHAT'S THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIRED TO ATTEND?
Our workshops are designed for adults only and are best for ages 18 years and up. We do require that someone over the age of 18 participates/accompanies the minor in the class, as a registered and ticketed participant. If you are unsure if a class is right for you, please email us before purchasing your ticket and we'll be happy to help you: lisa@rockpaperscissorsshop.com

WHAT CAN I EXPECT THE DAY-OF?
Our workshop spaces are available 15 minutes before the class start time. We encourage students to come early so you'll have time to sign in, get settled and browse our retail shops before we begin. All materials you'll need for the workshop will be provided (unless specifically stated in the workshop listing), so all you have to do is come ready to learn and have fun!

*Please BE ON TIME. Please note that if you are more than 20 minutes late past the class start time, we will be unable to seat you. The class will have progressed and it will be unlikely you'd be able to catch up to speed with the instruction. This policy is to protect the experience for the entire class as well as for respect of the instructor. If you come in late, you may have missed a bulk of instruction which may make you have a less than ideal experience with us. We truly want everyone to have an amazing time at our workshops!

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE FEES?
The goal of our workshops is not only for you to learn something new but a place for you to build relationships with not only the instructor but the other students.

All our workshops are all-inclusive!  That means you not only get personal and professional instruction from our top notch instructors, you also get quality materials & snacks and sips!

The cost of the workshop also takes into account the time and effort the instructor and our events coordinator has put in prior to each workshop for each student to prepare for an incredible class. That is, years of experience, potential travel time, etc. Our instructor's skills and knowledge have taken years to hone and each workshop takes hours to prepare.

CAN MY (FRIEND, CHILD, PET) WHO ISN'T TAKING THE CLASS ACCOMPANY ME TO THE WORKSHOP?
Each ticket counts as one individual seat to our class! For the best experience for all our paying students, we are unable to seat additional people (or pets- unless they are service animals) who don't have a paid ticket.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A WORKSHOP IS CANCELED?
Although never the intention and rare, a workshop may be canceled or rescheduled if it doesn't meet the minimum registration or if there is an emergency. In this event, you will be contacted as soon as this decision has been made, and we will refund 100% of all paid tickets. We will also notify you as soon as we get it rescheduled.

UGH, SOMETHING’S COME UP, I CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE WORKSHOP!
If you are unable to make it to the workshop, let us know at least 48 hours in advance and you may choose from the following two options:

  1. Have someone else attend in your place. **We are not responsible for the reimbursement of your workshop fee.
  2. Have a complete workshop kit set aside and you can pick them up the following week  (all materials and any instructional handouts - dependent on class). We won't have snacks & drinks to go available, sorry.

AH! A WORKSHOP I WANT TO TAKE IS SOLD OUT! WHAT CAN I DO?
We're so sorry but once a class is sold out, it does mean that it's at maximum seating capacity and we are unable to accommodate additional students.

Our goal is to be able to offer a workshop kit version of every in-person workshop we host.

CAN I HOST A PRIVATE WORKSHOP IN YOUR STUDIO?
Absolutely! We love hosting private workshops and parties in the stores, and even travel to host remote workshops for larger groups! We've hosted team building happy hours, birthday parties, bridal showers, just to name a few. We've held workshops for intimate groups up to 12, and up to 100 offsite! Please email lisa@rockpaperscissorsshop.com for more information

I AM AN ARTIST/MAKER/SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, I WOULD LIKE TO COLLABORATE AND TEACH IN YOUR STUDIO!
